Workforce Data

Having robust data about the midwifery workforce is a first step for the Government and the Council in developing workforce strategies. Each year the Midwifery Council surveys practising and recently practising midwives. The survey is completed as part of the annual practising certificate renewal process.  It asks midwives to provide some information about themselves and about their practise as a midwife. There are links to the 2011 and 2012 survey results below.

In March 2010 Council published its inaugural Midwifery Workforce Report. This report expands on the data reported in the annual workforce survey and presents data collected from a number of sources. The report has been updated for the 2010 year. Links are below.
