Check a midwife's practising status

All midwives are issued with a practising certificate as an electronic document.

Your midwife should show you their electronic practising certificate; if she does not, ask to see it.

Any conditions on their practice will be listed on the certificate.

If a midwife cannot or will not show you their practising certificate, you can their check the status and any conditions applying by searching the Register of Midwives. This is the most up-to date way to check a midwife's current practising status.
