The International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), based in The Hague, has announced that Sally Pairman, the first Chair of the Midwifery Council and three term member, has been appointed as its Chief Executive.

The Council is delighted that Sally’s knowledge, experience and skills which have established her as a midwife held in the highest regard both in New Zealand and internationally have been recognised in her appointment to this position. We have no doubt that Sally’s proven leadership and organisational skills, in addition to her broad ranging midwifery expertise, will add real impetus to ICM achieving its goals for improved outcomes for women, their newborn and families during the childbearing.

Lsiten to Sally being interviewed by Jesse Mulligan from Radio New Zealand.

We wish Sally and her husband Mike all the very best as they begin their new life in the Netherlands early in 2017.
