The Council collects workforce data from midwives when they renew their annual practising certificates. This data collection includes information around age, ethnicity, hours worked per week, and detailed employment information such as practice type, place of employment and work role.
This information is analysed to identify changes or trends in the midwifery workforce.
In March 2010 Council published its inaugural Midwifery Workforce Report. This report expands on the data reported in the annual workforce survey and presents data collected from a number of sources. The report haas been updated for the 2010 year.
