What information do we collect?

We do not collect any personal information from persons who merely browse this site.  We do monitor site usage statistics but this does not include any information that could identify you.

We only collect personal information about you if you send it to us.  You will send us information if:-

  • You open an account at this site
  • You update your user profile at this site
  • You apply to be registered as a midwife
  • You apply to sit the National Midwifery Examination 
  • You apply on for a midwifery practising certificate
  • You notify us of a change in your contact details

The information we collect is the information you enter onto the forms at this site as applicable.  We store this information in our database systems.

Credit card information

If you apply online to sit the National Midwifery Examination, to be registered as a midwife, or for a midwifery practising certificate then you may elect to pay the fees by credit card.  In this case your credit card details are sent direct by you to our payment gateway for processing.  The Council does not see your credit card details during this process or afterwards and does not keep a copy at this site or elsewhere.

If you call the Council with your credit card details we will enter the information into our payment gateway as we talk.  We do not write down the details or keep a copy in any form.

Do we share your information with other parties?

No.  The Council will not pass any personal details it holds to other parties unless it is required to by law.  However if you are applying to be registered as a midwife you should be aware that some personal details will be publicly available in the Register of Midwives.  Please read the privacy policy for registered midwives.  There is a link at the top of this page.

How do we protect your information?

Transmissions from this site to our payment gateway and to the Council use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you send.

The Council employs robust security for information kept in its database and in its office.  This includes password protection for our database, a firewall for our network, up-to-date virus protections, and physically secure premises.

Do we use cookies?

Yes.  We use cookies to keep track of you as you complete the online processes.  If you have cookies turned off you may have problems logging into your account at this site if you have one, and may not be able to complete the online forms.  You can however browse the site normally. 

You can delete cookies after you have exited the site if you wish and there will be no consequences next time you visit.
